Jaakko’s research revolves around videogames and eudaimonic gameplay experiences, that is, how games can evoke various meaningful aesthetic or emotional experiences that somehow enrich players’ lives. So far, he has employed qualitative methods like autoethnography, thematic analysis, and online research, for example, to explore how games may challenge and transform players’ perspectives on life or afford potential mental health benefits.
He holds an M.Sc. of Technology from Aalto University, Finland, in Information Networks (Digital Media track).
